If Jesus Paid It All, What Did He Get For That Payment

Jake and Hailee Allison were celebrating their anniversary as we gathered to worship Sunday morning at Mill Creek Baptist Church. Wayne Johnson opened our service with prayer and special prayers were requested for the DuMond family, safety as tornado season begins and everyone traveling this Memorial Day weekend. We presented Bro. Mark a basket of birthday wishes and congratulated Gracie Allison on her blue ribbon at the Strawberry Festival Pageant. Tom Sharp led us in the congregational responsive reading "Love, Mercy and Grace" from Psalm 103. We joined voices in singing "Jesus Paid It All" and "It Took A Miracle" led by Karen Johnson and Becky Gardner and Bob Obenshain sang "Stroll Over Heaven with You." Rick Lett asked God's blessing and he and Wayne served as ushers and collected our offering.

Bro. Mark Hall brought us God's message taken from Colossians 1:1-11 as he talked about the Old Testament being what's inside the box (Jesus) and the New Testament (the directions) telling us how to get Him out of the box and apply Him to our lives. The sermon was titled, "If Jesus Paid It All, What did He get For That Payment?" He was speaking to the church and us and what we are expected to do. Bro. Mark told us, "There are five goals of every church, but today we will go farther and look at the rewards of that great faith." Colossians 1:11-14 says, "Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins."

Bro. Mark told us what Jesus paid for. "He bought qualifications for us to share in the inheritance of the kingdom of life. He paid for your rescue and deliverance from the dominion of darkness. He bought a ticket to Heaven that no one can afford to buy but Jesus. Jesus is the ticket to Heaven. He paid for everyone's ticket and is the only one who can pass them out. He paid for your redemption. He freed us from sin and can bring you back from sin. He paid for our forgiveness. Is there anything more expensive than forgiveness? Our forgiveness cost the blood of Jesus. If the cost of our forgiveness had to be paid for by the blood of Jesus, why should forgiving someone else cost more than that? There is one thing God can't forgive and that is unforgiveness." Bro. Mark referred to Matthew 6:14-15 which says, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Bro. Mark said when we withhold forgiveness, we only hurt ourselves. We have to forgive, but we can't do it without Jesus. It is only through His power that we will be set free."

In conclusion, Bro. Mark said, "Jesus paid it all for us, for our salvation. Have you acknowledge it? What do you have to do? Confess it with your mouth and believe in your heart. There is no catch like with other giveaways and there is more than a lifetime warranty. There is an eternal warranty."

Our hymn of invitation was "Jesus Paid It All" and Tom Sharp gave the benediction.

We invite you to worship with us at Mill Creek every Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. and everyone is always welcome.
