Southwest City Artists Win In Big 8 Competition

Middle School Big 8 Art Show Winners at Southwest City School

The Middle School Big 8 Art Show was recently held. The show is a competition between all school districts within the Big 8 Conference, including McDonald County, Carl Junction, Cassville, Seneca, Lamar, Monett, Aurora, Mount Vernon and East Newton.

Southwest City School had 18 students enter art work to represent McDonald County. Out of the 18, nine were art show winners.

Sixth Grade

• Tempera Painting -- Brenda Mendez, second place;

• Mixed Media -- Luke Kitlen, second place;

• Printmaking -- Carlos Sosa, second place;

• Color Pencil Drawing -- Ricky Sanchez, third place.

Seventh Grade

• Weaving -- Yesenia Fuentes, first place;

• Sharpie/Marker -- Yesenia Fuentes, third place;

• Foil Art -- Yesenia Fuentes, first place, and Jarely Rea, second place.

Eighth Grade

• Pen and Ink -- Ryann Rosenbohm, second place;

• Clay Sculpture -- Ryann Rosenbohm, first place, and Ashley Blanco, second place;

• Clay Decorative -- Esmeralda Estrada, third place.
