Living At The Feet Of Jesus

"Majesty," was the choir's special today. Our Sunday morning message was brought by our senior pastor, Dr. Larry Crawford, "People That Ought To Be At The Feet Of Jesus."

The scripture readings were taken from Revelation 1, Luke 7, and Luke 8, with the lesson's primary emphasis on Luke 7.

"The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a wine bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!

"And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

"And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment."

Dr Crawford began with Revelation 1.

"I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet."

"What better place on earth to be on the Lord's day, but in His Spirit? If you are just here in the flesh, you are missing out on a whole lot."

"Revelation 1:17 goes on to say that when John saw Jesus, he fell at his feet as one dead."

He then opened in prayer.

So a lost sinner should fall at the feet of Jesus Christ? Yes. People who should be found at Jesus feet are, humbled, broken people who need to be, and are ready to be, saved.

"First she poured oil on Him, then she washed His feet with her tears, and then she got down at His feet and took her hair and dried His feet."

"No one ever gets saved except that they humble themselves. Folks, the key for you and I, is that we are going to have to learn and live at Jesus' feet. Being at Jesus' feet takes care of pride. No room for a haughty spirit or any kind of self-praise, or self-gain or selfishness or burdens, cares, worries, despair, love-loss or discouragement. Anyone who utters the following words is a liar, 'I am a good Christian.' I don't know of anyone here who is any better a Christian or person than the apostle Paul, and he said, 'I am the chiefest of sinners.'

"In my ministry I've seen a lot of folks who come to church to bargain with God. But no one ever comes to God on their own terms. I have folks say, 'I won't come down to that altar to get saved,' so I say, then you will never get saved. Because you have to be willing to do anything to get saved, to get saved." Humility. Lose your old self to find your true self.

"So sinners need to be found at Jesus feet. And, by the way, saved sinners need to be found at Jesus' feet too."

Luke 8

"And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

"Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

"When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.

"Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid."

"First ever Biblical recorded case of deviled-ham. And this was the man who was going about living his life as the rude, nude, crude, lewd, dude. Formerly out of his mind, crazy, but now, clothed and sane at the feet of Jesus. Don't miss this important point, people...was he back involved in the Devil? Doing the things he did with the Devil? Did he go back to the bondage, the fear, the tombs, the old way of thinking, the old way of living? No, you found him with Jesus, who saved him. And he would be the first to say, the closer I am to Jesus, the further I am from the Devil. The Devil's been bothering you a lot? Guess where you ain't? Know this church, if you give the Devil an inch, he will quickly become your ruler."

"And lastly, people who need a miracle need to be at Jesus feet."

Luke 8

"And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:

"For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

"Jarius needed a miracle. He begged Jesus: 'come to my house. You are the only hope for me, for my daughter.' Maybe you are in that kind of desperate position yourself today. Might be it is in the area of your finances, or perhaps something physical, or with your home, or in your marriage, your job, maybe school, it might be with your parents, but you find you are at the end of your rope. Just, humble yourself and fall at Jesus' feet."

"While he yet spake, there one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.

"But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole."

"But refuse to humble yourself, and like Hebrews says, I will shake your world till you understand what stands. Just like God had to do with Abraham, Issac, Jacob, and David."

"At Jesus feet. Who? The Lost One, The New One (in Christ), and The One who desperately needs a miracle."
