When Jesus Gets Involved

Wayne Johnson opened our morning worship service with prayer and Kitty Collingsworth was celebrating a birthday. Special prayers of safety were requested for those in our congregation traveling. There will be a baby shower for the Settergren baby on Sunday at the church and business meeting will be held next Sunday evening at 7. Wayne led us in the responsive reading, "Confession and Repentance." Tyrel Lett asked God's blessing upon our tithes and offerings and he and Wayne served as ushers. We honored our fathers with special gifts and Bob Obenshain sang "Precious Memories." Karen Gardner and Becky Johnson led our song service.

Sunday's sermon "When Jesus Gets Involved" began with a song about all things being possible when we call on Jesus. Our Pastor, Mark Hall, read scripture from Luke 8:43-48. He began by telling us that we all get faced with situations in life that get so big we think we can't face them, then we need to call on Jesus. We can't fix things by ourselves without God's power. "When we get in over our head, we are not over Jesus' head. All things are possible when Jesus gets involved." The scripture talked about the woman who was healed after 12 years when she touched Jesus. Pastor Mark talked about several parables when rough situations turn out OK because Jesus got involved. "When things get serious, call on Jesus. Why do we let problems go so long before we get Him involved?"

What was so special about the woman touching the hem of Jesus' garment? The answer is in Numbers 15:37-41. Pastor Mark said, "The tassels in the hem of the garment represent the word of God. You must humble yourself and be low to the ground to grab hold of the hem and God's word. When you get connected to the Son of God, you get connected to the word of God. The woman got healed when she humbled herself by the power of God with the connection of the Son of God. We spend a lot of time on self-help, but we need to call on Jesus for the real fixing. Only Jesus can fix life's real problems. Do you have peace? Have your problems gone on so long, they have worn you out? Go to Jesus with your problems. He already knows them. Have faith in God's will being done. We need God's purpose to have peace. Call on Jesus if you need peace."

Our hymn of invitation was "Leave It There" which says "If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out." Jerry Abercrombie gave the benediction.

We invite you to worship with us each Sunday morning at 11 as Pastor Mark Hall brings us God's word. Sunday School begins at 10 and everyone is always welcome at the little white church on the creek bank.

Mill Creek is located 3 1/2 miles east of Noel, just off Highway 90. Just follow the signs.
