Planned Parenthood Videos Highlight Abortion Issues

There are so many things happening in this country that have me so concerned.

But one issue that has come to light in the last few days has not just concerned me but sickened me as well. Anyone who is going to be reading this column is also going to have heard about the videos of Planned Parenthood officials talking about the profiteering of fetus body parts.

As soon as the videos surfaced, abortion proponents went on the offense and tried to attack the group responsible for recording the encounters. Then, the next line of defense was that the officials that were recorded were misunderstood. And then they countered that even if the officials were somewhat cavalier in their comments, it didn't change the fact that Planned Parenthood wasn't doing anything illegal.

Even many of those that would normally be carrying the pro-choice banner were disturbed by the content of the videos. Many in the lame stream (or main stream) media outlets viewed the videos in their entirety and seeing the whole recording changed nothing in the fact that Planned Parenthood was indeed selling body parts of aborted fetuses. Of course, their champions cited the fact that utilizing the aborted tissue aided medical research so of course that was a great thing.

The issue of abortion has been and will continue to be heatedly debated in this country. I seriously doubt that we will ever see Roe v Wade overturned. But, maybe we can point out enough of the bad consequences that we can save some lives in the process.

Here are just a couple of points that I would like to make. Many pro-choice proponents say that fetuses are not really human until they are delivered. But yet, if I were to have a car wreck and kill a pregnant woman and her unborn child, I could be charged with two homicides. So which is it -- human or not? Can't have it both ways. Oh wait, I guess they can.

Many pro-choice proponents refer to fetuses as just "pieces of tissue." But yet now Planned Parenthood is selling "body parts" to aid medical research. So, are fetuses bodies or merely pieces of tissue? Can't have it both ways. Oh wait, I guess they can.

And, what about partial birth abortions that many defend? In this procedure, live babies are brought out of the womb and then aborted -- killed. Can anyone truly defend this?

A huge chunk of Planned Parenthood's funding comes from your and my federal tax dollars. And now, under Obamacare, almost every insurance policy (except in very, very strict instances and then only after a fight) must have abortion coverage. So, you and I are paying for abortions with our tax dollars and our insurance premium dollars.

I will most likely be attacked and vilified for my "mean-spirited" attack on abortions. But, that's OK. I know what I believe and I personally believe that abortion is wrong. I can't speak for anyone besides myself and it is not my place to condemn someone who does believe in abortion. But, I do think it is my place to at least point out the inconsistencies with the pro-choice argument and at least make people consider their beliefs.

Planned Parenthood is in full defense mode by going on the offense and will do anything to deflect the facts. All I really ask is that everyone objectively review the facts and then let your conscience be your guide. Don't blame me for just pointing out the facts.
