Pineville's annual celebration of the 1938 filming of the movie "Jesse James" kicks off next week.
The movie, released in 1939, was filmed in and around Pineville, using many county residents as extras.
The classic film, supported by a high-powered cast that included Tyrone Power, Henry Fonda and Nancy Kelly, tells the story of Frank and Jesse James' turn toward crime after railroad agents evicted their family from their farm.
All proceeds from Jesse James Days helps support the Pineville Volunteer Fire Department.
The Aug. 6 issue of McDonald County Press will contain a special section promoting the event.
