The January meeting of Lambda Chi chapter of ESA was a gathering in the home of Judy Rickett. Only eight members answered roll call, but Judy's soup and co-hostess Nancy Call's peach cobbler helped to fight off the bitter cold outside.

Barbara Keaton wrapped up her "Bad Girls of the Bible" educational series with a pop quiz. Judy Rickett was high score with nine correct out of 16. The rest of the members had bad scores on the bad girls quiz!

Settling into the business meeting, the "Star Wars" table decorations to be provided for state convention were discussed as was attendance at the Winterboard in Boonville set for Feb. 20-21. Shirley Alps, Judy Rickett and Judy Duncan plan to attend.

Possible group outings in February include the McDonald County Schools Foundation Heart of Education Banquet on Feb. 21 and the annual anniversary dinner at Fred's Hickory Inn, if it has reopened that month. Plans to make the Valentine's for the residents at the Golden Living Center in Anderson were made for the afternoon of Jan. 25 in the fellowship hall of the Anderson United Methodist Church. Several members gathered there that afternoon with art supplies and made the one hundred heart shaped Valentine door hangers which will decorate the doors and hold other Valentine's for the residents. Feathers, buttons, lace, foam cut outs and google-eyes make each Valentine decoration unique.

In past years ready-made punch out children's valentines have been used to fill the large hearts, but this year the high school art classes of Charlene Bergen created computer generated valentine greetings. The cards were then printed and cut apart by library media computer lab aide Jean Buckner and delivered to ESA. Lambda Chi chapter thanks our new partners in this project to spread the love to Golden Living residents this Valentine's.
