Keeping The Spots Off - Part II

It was a chilly winter morning as the congregation gathered at Mill Creek Baptist Church and was welcomed by Gene.

Prayer requests were asked for Ashton, Frankie, Debbie and Don, Kitty, Fred Hall and our country. Praises were given for Susan's family and Jerry's sister, Marilyn. Becky and Karen led our hymns of praise. Mitchell blessed the offertory and he and Tyrel served as ushers. We enjoyed specials from Bob who sang "Beulah Land" and Jerry singing "The Old Rugged Cross."

Bro. Mark's sermon was Part II on Keeping the Spots Off, taken from James 1:27, "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." How can Godly people live in an ungodly world? Are we guilty or innocent standing by the mud hole?

First mud hole is the hole of denial, Romans 1:18. God has shown them, but they don't agree -- they profess to be wise and become fools. Second is the mud hole of the depraved, Romans 1:26-30. God's external powers and divine nature has been clearly seen so that men are without excuse on doing what ought not to be done. Third mud hole is the deviant, Romans 1:29-30. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness and invent ways of doing evil. They are the un-crossed, un-Jesus. Fourth is the mud hole of delusion, Romans 1:29-30. Although they know God's righteous decree they not only continue to do evil things, but also approve of those who practice them.

We live in a world full of mud holes and just standing by, listening and watching, you can get spots on you. Are you guilty or innocent? Jesus supplied us with clean white robes to wear at the marriage supper of the Lamb -- its left up to us to keep the spots off. We need our family home, church home and heavenly home. We can get a key to fit all locks on our family home, but the key that will fit all the locks is Jesus.

Wayne Holly gave the closing benediction. Sunday school starts at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. We invite you to hear God's messenger Bro. Mark as he brings us God's message. You are always welcome to be a part of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
