We Are Unaware Of The Power Given Us

We celebrate another wonderful Lord's day by inviting the Holy Spirit into our midst.

Bro. Randy Richardson led us in prayer. We then were led in worship with the chosen hymns. All were blessed. We sang "Happy Birthday" for Bro. Bobby Bryan. He was so happy to be joined by his daughter, Vicky. Sister Geneva Testerman gave us a message in song. The title was "Please Search The Book Again."

This was followed by another song that was a real blessing. Bro. Daniel Cartwright sang "Kneel At The Cross." Our prayer requests were given and we all ask God to meet the needs of his people.

Pastor Bob Cartwright gave us a wonderful sermon titled, "We Have The Power To Keep The Evil One Out Of Our Domain." In Luke, Chapter 11, Verse 11, we are told the gift of power comes from God through the Holy Ghost. All we must do is ask and we shall receive. John, Chapter 1, Verse 12, He tells us that we can receive the power to become the sons of God. This gives us the ability to go forth and tell the world of His great plan of salvation. We are so unaware of the power given us.

Jesus said He would not leave us comfortless, when He rose to sit at the right hand of the Father. He is not slack in His promises. Ephesians, Chapter 1, Verses 10-17 we are told to put on the whole armour of God. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the evil one. We need the breastplate of righteousness and our feet needs to be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.

But above all, we must have the shield of faith. This will give us the power to quench the fiery darts of the wicked. Last but not least, we need the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.

We now know that we are filled with that spirit talked about in Romans, Chapter 8, Verse 11. This great time of learning was closed with a very heartfelt prayer by Bro. Bob. I can't speak for others, but as for me, I see power in new light.

We were dismissed and moved to the kitchen where the youth served us a meal fit for a king. We are so lucky to have such loving young people in our church. I'm sure we all felt very blessed and full. We indeed had a happy Valentine's Day.

So in closing, I would like to challenge you with a question taken from today's message. "What part of the body does the breastplate protect?" If you don't figure out the answer, I will tell you next week. For now, I will just say have a great week and God bless.
