The McDonald County eighth grade boys basketball team defeated Cassville 28-23 Feb. 10 to win the championship game of the Big 8 Conference Tournament held in Aurora.
Cooper Reece scored 14 points to lead McDonald County to the title in the school's first year as a member of the Big 8 Conference. Shiloh Jackson added seven points while Charley Moore and Joseph Brown each chipped in five points.
The team ends the season with a 13-2 record.
In the tournament semifinals on Feb. 9, McDonald County clipped Aurora 29-26 behind 11 points form Reece and eight from Moore.
Rounding out the scoring were Jackson with six points and Boston Dowd and Joseph Brown with two each.
