Girls Second, Boys Fifth In 9/10 Mustang Stampede

Despite not winning an event, the McDonald County Lady Mustangs 9/10 track team took second place overall behind Webb City at the 9/10 Mustang Stampede held March 30 at McDonald County High School.

Leading the Lady Mustangs were second place finishes from Destiny Arnall in the pole vault (7-6); Jordan Witt in the high jump (4-6); Riley Rickman in the 800 meter run (2:47.9); and the 4x200 relay team of Britiny Calvert, Drew McMurren, Andrea Creason and Rickman.

Picking up third place for McDonald County were Witt in the triple jump (29-11) and long jump (14-5); Calvert in the 200 meter run (28.5); and the 4x800 relay of Cassi Dowd, Annika Blair, Cassie Wise and Rickman.

Other McDonald County top six finishes included Bailey Rickett, fourth, high jump, 4-2; the 4x100 and 4x400 relay, fourth; Chloe Morris, fifth, pole vault, 6-0; Calvert, fifth, 100 meter run, 13.9; and Dowd, fifth, 400 meter run, 1:08.4.

Webb City totaled 185 points to easily outdistance the competition. McDonald County took second with 74 points followed by Diamond 56, East Newton 53, Carl Junction 51, Carthage 38.5, Cassville 22.5, Lamar 22, Neosho 18, and Seneca 10.

Boys Results

Treyton Murphy led McDonald County to a fifth place finish in the boys division by winning the 800 meter run in a time of 2:16.4.

Wes Bethel picked up a second in the 1600 meter run (5:08.8) as did the 4x400 relay team of Drew Landers, Alex Guadarrama, Bethel and Murphy. The 4x800 relay team of Grant Abercrombie, Conner Wolff, Bethel and Murphy took third place.

Rounding out the top six McDonald County finishes were Francisco Gonzalez, fifth, 110 meter hurdles, 20.4; Guadarrama, fifth, 800, 2:24.9; Colton Tweedy, fifth, 3200 meter run, 11:54.5; and Chris Rubio, sixth, 300 hurdles, 51.4.

Webb City also won the boys meet, totaling 141.3 points. Neosho was second with 93.3 points followed by Carl Junction 68, Carthage 64, McDonald County 52, Monett 39, Lamar and Cassville 34, East Newton 19, Seneca 6 and Diamond 5.
