Dennis Yotter welcomed the congregation and made announcements: Ladies Bible study is at 1:30 p.m., Monday at the church and Fall Fest is Sept. 28; plan on lots of fellowship, food and games. Brett and Derrek Woodard received the morning tithes and offerings after the little children collected change during the penny drill. Pastor Scott led the congregation in prayer with thankful hearts for God is our help and salvation. Tara Stephens and Megan Yotter led the worship service with "There is Power in the Blood," "Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus" and "Cleanse Me."
God has set an order in our families that reflects the Trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Men are called to lead; they are the head of the home, but not rule over their wife harshly but with gentleness and love.
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Colossians 3:18
A godly man gives of himself first even unto death, just as Christ died for the church.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Ephesians 5:25-27
It goes against our human nature to be selfless, to put another's needs above our own, and to give unconditional love, but God has set the example to establish a good home and a good family. Scott prayed over the congregation and Mark Alumbaugh dismissed us in prayer.
