The Many Names Of Our Savior

We are having a wonderful turn out for Vacation Bible School. Tonight (Thursday) will be the last night. All children are from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Sunday morning we had a Bible and certificate of Baptism for Shawnia Baker. Many were the prayers for Elaine Tillman, and Jennifer Alpizar. Gratitude for blessings were received for Dennis Pope, David Groves and prayers for Terry Crawford and Dr. Crawford's family. Sebastian expressed appreciation for prayers and for his mother's (Jennifer) progress. Children, in great faith, asked for prayers for fish and crawdads. All of our church family joined in prayer for peace in Israel.

Dr. Crawford's message was taken from Mark 6: 1-6, as he continued with the names of our Savior, today was"The Carpenter, A Message of Hope." He referred also to Matthew 13:54. He cautioned all not to dismiss Jesus who was and still is a carpenter. That Jesus was a carpenter for the first 30 years of his life and only three and a half years in His ministry. How would you feel, he queried, if you were a brother and learned, to your astonishment, that your half-brother is God, the Son of God? Jesus lived among common folks, he reflected, and could identify with them. We need to grab and get a hold of that fact, that he was a carpenter, who walked and talked among men and he could have been respected among them, but He was not. Today, your unbelief in God will handcuff Him. See Hebrews 4:15. Those same rough, calloused, carpenter's hands can be the most gentle of touches. He understands and knows what it is to be weary. He understands rejection, disappointment, hurt and sorrow. How many, Dr. Crawford asked, here today, have suffered and labored, heavy laden, burdened, and tried to pull their load all by themselves? You can get in His yoke, let Him pull it and you can just walk along. He, who created the universe, John 1:1, and repairs things. He builds things, repairs things, sees the potential, what it can be, what you can be. God sees your potential. Your job is to place your life in the hands of the carpenter. We are here for a reason. He has a plan for each of us. When people see us, they ought to look at us and see Jesus. It was a message of hope and relief from the burdens of today.

Today we were reminded that Saturday all the men in our church will share a prayer breakfast. Invite your sons, your fathers, your neighbors. All are encouraged, also, to sign up to provide water at our Jesse James Days water booth. Sign-up sheet is in the lobby.

A lot of things going on this coming week.
