Sales Tax Increases Healthy Ones

The sales tax story is still looking good in McDonald County.

Increases for July are healthy ones and sure to be a boon for local entities.

The county itself is up more than $100,000, at least $25,000 in each of four taxing categories -- General Revenue, Road and Bridge, Law Enforcement and Emergency Communications (911). City increases are in the low-to-mid thousands, for the most part.

Below are figures for July receipts followed by last year's totals and the difference between the two, with decreases in parenthesis:
