Pineville Purhcases New City Truck

The Pineville City Council approved the purchase of a new city truck at its Dec. 9 meeting.

Mayor Greg Sweeten said the city has been looking around at some 2004-2005 used trucks, but Sweeten noted they have 100,000 miles or more on them with a cost of $13,000-$15,000.

He said he received a bid from Putnam Chevrolet regarding a 2015 MoDOT truck in the amount of $25,186 plus $450 for a snow plow prep package and $300 for delivery, which was approved.

The coucnil also finalized the approval of an ordinance calling for an increase automatically for water and sewer usage on Jan. 1 of each year equal to the same as the cost of living increase set by the U.S. government subject to the board approval.

Chris Tinsley, public works director, provided the council with a bid from Springfield Striping and Sealing for street striping in the amount of $4,886. The council approved the bid for striping Eighth Street and Rhine Street.

Other Business

• Water meters and leaks were discussed. Alderman Jeff Slish recommended that when water meters are being purchased that better quality meters be purchased;

• Past due water bills were discussed. Sweeten said he will look into getting the bills paid;

• Sweeten said he talked to the commissioners about another fire station. He said the fire department can move two trucks out to the old county barn, which will give Pineville a fire station to cover that area;

• Sweeten said he met with a representative from ADA who went to all of the city buildings and will do a report;

• Tinsley said one of the clarifiers was cleaned out;

• Marshal David Beshears said stripes are being put on the new patrol cars; and

• Bills were approved in the amount of $33,697.81.
