A 53-year-old Springdale, Ark., man was killed at about 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, when a tractor trailer hit his parked vehicle while he was working underneath it, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The highway patrol reported that Tommy G. Ramsey was parked on the northbound shoulder of Highway 71 about a mile south of Route H due to mechanical difficulties with his 2003 Chevrolet pickup and a trailer loaded with logs. The report stated that Ramsey was under the vehicle when a tractor trailer driven by Cory W. Frazier, 38, of Madison, Ark., drifted off the right side of the road and struck Ramsey's pickup, causing both vehicles to run over the victim.

Ramsey was taken to Freeman Neosho Hospital were he was pronounced dead at 4:17 p.m. by Dr. Khan.

A teenage passenger in Ramsey's pickup escaped injury as did Frazier.

Sarah L. Torres, 42, of Noel sustained moderate injuries Dec. 13 in a one-vehicle wreck on Castlerock Road, two miles south of Branson West.

The highway patrol reported that a car driven by Richard D. McVay, 40, of Reeds Spring, was southbound on Castlerock when he ran off the road and struck a tree.

McVay and Torres were both taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, McVay with serious injuries. Both the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts.
