Many Today Are Spiritually Asleep

And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together. Acts 20:7-8

Megan Yotter played, "Jesus Loves Me" during the penny drill and Gene and Jeremy Buchite received the morning tithes and offerings. Many prayer requests and praises were lifted up to God; He is with us in all seasons. Tara Stephens and Megan led the worship service with "He Set Me Free," "God Will Make a Way" and "As the Deer." Elizabeth Rose blessed us with her sweet voice, "I'll Fly Away."

And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep; and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. Acts 20:9

Paul wanted to spend as much time preaching the gospel because he was leaving the next day, he loved the Word, loved these people and knew they needed the Word of God in their lives. However, this young man, tired out by the day, lulled by the warmth and assurance fell into a deep sleep and then fell to his death. Many today are spiritually sleepy. Some are fast asleep and some have fallen away. It is easy to be lulled into complacency, not be involved, not do what God would have us do, but if we are asleep the Holy Spirit cannot flow through us and touch another person. Wake up and be fed from the word of God, wake up and do what you are called to do. Eutychus though he was pronounced dead, was taken up alive. God can brings the dead to life; God is good! Pastor Scott prayed for the congregation and gave the invitation. Charlotte Spencer dismissed us in prayer.
