Upstairs Renovations To Begin Soon At Old Courthouse

Renovation of the upstairs rooms of the Historic Courthouse Museum is in the planning stages. Work will begin very soon.

Plans call for all the rooms upstairs to be as authentic as possible. The grand old courtroom will be the queen of the upstairs with a school memories room on the south side and a lawyer's office on the north. The stairs will be finished and will bring visitors to the landing where our county representatives will be remembered.

The Historical Society committees are planning fundraising events, future displays and the Research Committee members are busy sorting and organizing historical artifacts. Do you have county photos or old artifacts that you would like to donate to the Historical Society? Would you like to be a part of the Historical Society that is growing? If so, contact us today. We welcome everyone, young or old to be a part of McDonald County's history preservation.

The Historical Society is gathering family histories of McDonald County families for their latest book project, "Journey Through Time with McDonald County Families." Submit your family's history now to be included in this important book. The Historic Courthouse Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoons provided there are volunteers to work those hours. Contact us at the Historic Courthouse Museum at 417-223-7700, P.O. Box 572, Pineville, MO 64856 or online at the McDonald County Historical Society Facebook page or at www.mcdonaldcohistory.org.
