'Build A Deer Call' Class Being Offered Aug. 28

Kids ages 5-18 will have the opportunity to build their own deer call, learn how to imitate sounds with it and hear a testimony of faith thanks to a local youth organization, Young Outdoorsmen United. The event begins at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Rocky Comfort Elementary School, located south of Longview on Highway 76. All materials and tools are furnished.

The workshop is limited to 40 youth. Those planning on attending must register to attend. Participants will be selected by a random drawing. To request a registration form, please e-mail [email protected] or call 417-439-8594. Cost is free to current members or $2 for non-members.

Current Realtree Senior Pro-Staff member and TV hunting personality, Brad Harris, will be instructing participants in the steps to assemble the calls, telling hunting stories and sharing his faith in God. Brad has won numerous game calling awards, including All-Around Game Call Champion. Brad's credentials include hosting "Outdoor Traditions" on the Outdoor Channel, and is co-host on the national weekly broadcast of the Christian Sportsmen radio program. He also invented and developed the first deer grunt call.

Young Outdoorsmen United's goal is to "build opportunities for youth and families to enjoy the outdoors through hunting, fishing, shooting and other related outdoors activities." To learn more about Y.O.U. visit their Facebook page or at youngoutdoorsmenunited.com
