Sales Tax Receipts Nose Dive

After a good March for the county and most cities, April sales tax receipts mostly took a nose dive.

This year's April receipts were down nearly $36,000 from April 2013 (not counting 911, which was down over $7,000). April's dismal figures turned a year-to-date increase of about $32,000 to a deficit of about $4,000.

Cities followed the trend the county showed, with the exception of Southwest City and Lanagan, which showed some increases. However, Southwest City gains in general revenue, transportation and fire receipts were offset by a drop in option use receipts.

Here's a report on sales tax receipts for the county and the cities, including the figures from 2013 in parentheses and the difference between the two also shown:

McDonald County
