Day Of Cheers, Day Of Tears

The Sunday morning message, "Day of Cheers and Day of Tears," was brought by our beloved shepherd, Dr. Larry Crawford.

Today, Palm Sunday, Dr. Crawford referred us to Matthew 21:8-9; John 12:12 and Luke 19:31-41 as he talked about providing our Lord with what He needed, he assured us that if the Lord has need of it, that should be enough for us, too. He talked about the prophesy of Zechariah; fulfillment from the Old Testament. He shared with us words from our Savior, as he told the disciples, "I was here, I walked among you, healed, raised the dead and you didn't know Me."

Our preacher talked about the fact he will be 50 this month and our Lord and Saviour's time here on earth never reached 50 years. He shared with us the day of Passover and there were 300,000 people attending what was a day that is remembered with a lot of tears before a day of cheers as he referred to Ezekiel 44:4 "Then brought he me the way of the north gate before the house..." and we rejoiced as we were reminded that He is coming back one day.

We looked forward to evening service as our revival was recapped and we celebrated, also, a need (for which we are grateful) for a bigger bus to transport our church family to church. The Nursing Home Ministry (led by Harley Tillman) met following worship service as did our long-range planning (led by Dennis Pope) to plan our annual church picnic -- tentatively set for June 7.

Our young people will be happy to know that Saturday, James Story's children will meet at the church for a young people's activity. Bus transportation will be available. Time will be from noon to 2 p.m. -- check with youth pastor James Story if you have questions.

Friday night, April 18, our Bible study group will hold a revival recap with a good ole potluck. Next Sunday we look forward to Easter Sunday. Thursday, April 24, the AWANA teachers will meet at 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 21, the ladies will share a tea party in the afternoon. Everyone is reminded that our church pantry stocks non-perishable food and household items. If you would like to donate to this worthy project and have a question, see Kenny or Bobbi Bowers. If you find it difficult to attend our worship services, tune in your radio Sunday morning at 8:30 to 100.3 FM KURM for an encouraging message. We provide transportation and have available hearing assistance devices. AWANA resumes this Wednesday, 6:30 to 8 p.m. for all children through sixth grade. For our worship service, we provide junior church (5-year-olds to third grade) by Youth Pastor James Story.

If you are alone, if you are lonely or depressed, please do not procrastinate, call us, come join us at 417-223-4433 or 417-223-1070. We are located on East 5th Street in Pineville, just off the northeast corner of the square, behind U. S. Bank. The church website is www.firstbaptistchurchpineville.com.
