Can't Call Your Boss Dumb

I was recently asking my representative, Republican Bill Lant, about several medical marijuana related issues. I asked him how he felt personally. I asked if he would be interested in a discussion and also asked how he came to his opinion and his answer to all those questions and more was:

"Aarden, my district survey shows 89 percent disapproval. We will not have an opportunity this session to vote on a proposal as bill filing has closed, but I will send out another poll before next session. Thanks, Bill."

To that I said you didn't answer any of my questions. I asked all my questions again and told him "you make me feel like I'm wasting my time," and he responded:

"Aarden, are you as dumb as you appear? I answered your questions as succinctly as I could considering that there is NO current legislative action by the House or Senate. I was willing to send another survey out (which you would have received four of already if you are are indeed a resident and a registered voter). I can assure you that sending me messages that impugn my character or honesty will get you nothing! Get a job and get off dope!"

Now as far as I know this is not acceptable. I have lived here for 14 years and I have had many interactions with political figures, some more heated than others and I understand some people will just not see eye-to-eye, but you can't go around attacking the people that voted for you, as far as I am concerned.

I pay my taxes; he works for me. You can't call your boss dumb and you can't make unfounded statements about another person's drug use. Whether I use drugs or not is not a subject for discussion. He is insinuating that I do and that is defamation of character.
