Smith, Ickes Win Two Events At Webb City Relays

McDonald County's Courtni Smith and Coley Ickes each won two events to lead the Lady Mustangs to a fourth place team finish at the Webb City Relays held April 7.

Smith, a past state medalist in the high jump, triple jump and long jump, won the high jump (5-2) and triple jump (34-7.5) while Ickes took first in the long jump (14-9.25) and 300 meter hurdles (49.6). Smith added a third in the long jump (14-3.75) and a fourth in the 200 meter (29.1). Ickes was also second in the 100 (13.1) and fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.5).

Ozark ran away from the field to easily win the team title with 204.5 points. The race for second was won by Carl Junction with 122 points to edge Webb City (119) and McDonald County (118.5). Rounding out the field were Miami, Okla. with 48, Cassville 28, College Heights 16, Joplin McAuley 6 and Thomas Jefferson 4.

Other McDonald County individuals to place in the top six included Kylie Buttram, second, pole vault, 8-6; Kylie Littlefield, third, 3200 meter, 12:42.6; Dakota Bunch, fourth, 400 meter, 1:07.1; and Rebekah Nandico, fifth, 100 meter hurdles, 18.4, sixth, 300 meter hurdles, 55.6 and sixth, pole vault, 7-0.

Boys Division

The McDonald County boys were led by Lavante Jackson's win in the 100 meters and a second and third from Donavon Hadley in the shot put and discus, respectively.

Jackson was timed in 11.2 to win the 100 while Hadley had a toss of 41-11 in the shot and 115-8 in the discus. Jackson added a fourth in the long jump (18-10) and a fifth in the 200 (23.9).

Rounding out top six finishes for the boys were Hamza Kamran, third, pole vault, 11-6; Jose Santillan, fourth, 110 hurdles, 18.5 and sixth, 300 hurdles, 48.2; Roland Kitlen, fourth, high jump, 5-6; Billy Leach, fifth, high jump, 5-4; and Cole Cooper, fifth, pole vault, 10-6.

The boys totaled 82.5 points to take third place. Webb City edged Carl Junction 187-186 for first. Rounding out the team scores were Cassville 55.5, Joplin McAuley 47.5, College Heights 47, Seneca 45.5, Miami, Okla. 25 and Thomas Jefferson 6.

McDonald County's next meet is set for April 14 in Carl Junction.
