Sin Is A Choice We Make

Steve Powell welcomed the congregation and guests for worship and announcements for the week were made. Megan Elwood and Lily Allman lit the altar candles as Marva Chambers played the prelude to worship. The congregation shared in a time of fellowship.

The congregation sang the hymns "He Is Lord" and "God of Grace and God of Glory," accompanied by Marva on the piano and the orchestra.

Joys were shared by many for the good weather and the approaching spring. Lou Fischer shared a joy for a new great granddaughter and Jan Heath shared joy for her healing. Parker Owens and Tristin Cory were recognized for qualifying for the state band competition and Parker was accepted to a special study program at the University of Missouri. Prayer was requested for Lawrence Owens. Pastor Mary Lou Toft led the congregation in prayer.

Steve read the scripture lesson, Psalm 51: 1-12.

"More Precious Than Silver" was the music special, played by the orchestra.

Mary Lou spoke with the children about how using an eraser in school to remove and correct mistakes is like the way Jesus forgives our past and erases our sins when we accept Him as our savior.

In her message to the congregation, Mary Lou spoke about how sin was a choice we make. It happens when we give in, get to busy or when everything becomes about us. With Jesus, forgiveness is always open to us. When we realize we have done wrong, the Lord will cleanse and renew us when we ask. Then we have the ability to focus on the needs of others in the way God intends for us.

The congregation sang "I Am Thine O Lord" followed by Mary Lou's benediction to close the worship service.

We invite you to worship services at 11 a.m. Sundays at St. John and Mill Streets in Noel. Phone 417-475-3814. Visit our Facebook page, Noel MO United Methodist Church.
