If You Would Just Listen

As we gathered to worship Sunday morning at Mill Creek, Gene Gardner opened our service with prayer. Special prayers of healing were requested for David Collingsworth, Bob Obenshain, Phyllis Hatfield, Wayne Johnson and Roy Abercrombie.

We were blessed with special music from Bob Obenshain who sang "Come Home It's Suppertime" and Becky Johnson provided piano music as Karen Gardner led the congregation in singing hymns of praise.

Mitchell Lett asked God's blessing upon our tithes and offering and he and Tyrel Lett served as offering attendants.

Bro. Mark Hall continued his sermon series "What Does A Christian Look Like" with Sunday's message "If You Would Just Listen." He began by asking "How many times have parents told their children, 'If you would just listen to me?' Does God strike you down because you don't listen? When God tells us not to do something it is to protect us. God is not out to get you. He is out to save you and protect you. God loves us enough to give us the choice to do good or bad things. He didn't make us slaves. He wants to set us free and we obey Him because we love Him."

Bro. Mark told us "We must let God have authority over our lives. If we have an authority problem, we also have a faith problem. God doesn't send us to hell, our sins do. It breaks parents hearts when their children don't listen just as it breaks Jesus' heart when we don't listen. The only authority we have is our Bible and its words. We need to give God complete lordship over our lives." Scripture for Bro. Mark's message was taken from Proverbs 5:28-33, Matthew 8:1-5, Romans 5:8-10 and Matthew 23:8-10.

Our hymn of invitation was "Trust and Obey" and Wayne Johnson gave the benediction. We invite you to worship with us this Easter season as we give thanks in remembrance of the sacrifice Jesus made for us. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. Ladies, remember to wear your decorated Easter bonnet on Easter Sunday. Mill Creek is located 3.5 miles east of Noel just off Highway 90. Everyone is always welcome.
