Mustang Golfers Open Season

Kade McKee shot a 103 at Briarbrook Golf Course in Carl Junction Monday to lead McDonald County High School at the Bird-Dog Invitational hosted by Webb City and Carl Junction high schools.

Nick Yuhus of Joplin and Carson Trent of Carthage each shot 80 to tie for medalist honors. Yuhus won a four-hole playoff to take first place.

Ironically, Joplin and Carthage also tied for first place in the team competition with 349 totals. Joplin won the tiebreaker on the fifth best score for the team title. McDonald County was last in the nine-team field with a 495 total.

Rounding out the Mustang scores were David Reed with a 123, Wade West 129 and Zach Knadle 140.

McDonald County's next action is the Cassville Tournament set for April 3 at the Cassville Golf Course.

Neosho Triangular

McKee shot a 53 to lead McDonald County in its season-opening match at the Neosho Golf Course. West was next with a 57 followed by Knadle 59 and Reed 66.

Neosho won the match with a team score of 173. Diamond was second with 223 followed by McDonald County with a 235.

Neosho's Blake Augustine shot a 39 for medalist honors.
