Terry Lett and Cody Latty were celebrating birthdays as we gathered to worship Sunday morning at Mill Creek Baptist church. Special prayers were requested for Bill Mitchell, Bill Emmanuel, Ray Clanton, Janice Moss’ grandson and Frankie Garvin.

Gene Gardner opened our worship service with prayer and we joined voices in singing hymns of praise led by Karen Gardner with Becky Johnson at the piano.

Mitchell Lett asked God’s blessing upon our tithes andofferings and then he and Tyrel Lett served as ushers.

The youth Sunday school class studied the story of David and Goliath and about having courage. Kyle Jayne read scripture from Joshua 9:1. Melody Sutherland is preparing for the Christmas play. We are updating our address list of our church family and the ladies met after church to plan the meal and menu for our fi rstcommunity Thanksgiving dinner to be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, in the fellowship hall at the church. Serving will be from 5 to 7 p.m. We invite everyone to come enjoy the free meal and fellowship with us.

Brian Stephens brought us God’s message taken from II Corinthians 5:16 - 21 about “Reconciliation.” He talked about why it is important for us to be concerned about others. “Motivation matters when it comes to spiritual matters. We shouldn’t do the right thing just becauseit is right. We should let the love of Christ pour out of us as we do it. Be compelled to help people to Christ. Stop living a self-served life. Serve others for Christ’s sake. Do we sometimes keep from sharing Christ with someone because of their outward appearance? Do you view people from their physical body or do you view them as God does, as a spiritual body in a temporary earthly home? Do we view people from a worldly view? Do we measure them by their car, their clothes or the amountof money they have? How do you view yourself and, more importantly, how does God view you? We compare ourselves and others to a flawed worldly standard. We need to address our spiritual needs. God is the standard we should work toward. There is a di◊erence between salvation and reconciliation. We are Christ’s ambassadors and should behave in such a way for Christ, not our own agenda.”

Our service closed with a hymn of invitation, “Kneel at the Cross.”
