Donald Eugene O’Brien Oct. 16, 1928-Feb. 15, 2012

Mr. Donald Eugene OíBrien, 83, of Lanagan, Mo., a well-known McDonald County Businessman, departed this life Wednesday morning, Feb. 15, 2012, in Anderson, Mo., while receiving rehabilitative care at the Golden LivingCenter.

Don began his earthly journey Oct. 16, 1928, in Jane, Mo., born to the union of the late John Joseph and Edith Estella (Russell) OíBrien. He graduated from White Rock High School in the class of 1946. Don was a self-employed entrepreneur throughout his life. He began his career in the poultry industry 1951, when he started White Rock Live Haul. Soon after, he purchased the Pineville Poultry Plant thus establishing OíBrien Foods. He expanded with the purchase of the poultry plant in Jay, Okla., and in 1962, he built the plant in Southwest City, Mo., all bearing the name of OíBrien Foods. He owned the OíBrien Feed Mill in both Anderson, Mo., and Bentonville, Ark. In 1972 he purchased the State Bank of Noel, followed a few years later with the additionof the Goodman State Bank in Goodman and Neosho, Mo. In 2005, he built the Bank of Jane. He also owned Ponderosa Trails on K Highway in Pineville, Mo., from 1992 until 1998. His most recent adventure was the establishing of OíBrien Realty in Jane, Mo. Don did all of the above in conjunction with running OíBrien Farms. His accomplishments included The Missouri Small Businessman Award, which he received in 1969 from Governor Hearnes; Missouri Farm Family of the Year in 1983; was past president of the North American Limousin Foundation; chairman of the McDonald County 911 center from 2000-10; 2011 Legacy Award Honoree in the American Quarter Horse Association; and Missouri Limousin Breeder of the Year in 1999. He also owned several award winning race horses. Don was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Dick and John OíBrien; and four brothers, Wallace, Richard, Russell and Harold OíBrien.

Don is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Alice OíBrien, whom he married on Jan. 27, 1962. Additional survivors include his four sons, David OíBrien of Jane, Mo., Donnie OíBrien and wife, Tammy, of Pineville, Mo., Kelly OíBrien and wife, Tabitha, of Jane, Mo., and Jason OíBrien and wife, Mindy, of Lanagan, Mo.; two daughters, Marsha Douglas and husband, Jary, of Winterville, Ga., and Kathy Brooks and husband, Bruce, of Marietta, Okla.; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael OíBrien of Lanagan, Mo.; a sister, Patti Wiley of Anderson, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service for Mr. OíBrien was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastors Jeff Lynn and Marilyn OíBrien of ciating with Ken Holloway delivering the eulogy. Burial followed in the OíBrien Family Cemetery in Lanagan, Mo. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers were his oldest grandsons, Levi Douglas, Brandon Douglas, Jared OíBrien, Colt OíBrien, Cody OíBrien-Venable and Josh OíBrien. Kenneth Galyean, Martin Henson, LaVern Beaver, Sam Fiser, Bob Tyson, Paul Walters, Rick Stockett, Dale Gray and Gene Woods served as honorary pallbearers. Raymond Troy Hooper July 12, 1940-Feb. 6, 2012

Raymond Troy Hooper, 71, died Feb. 6, 2012, in Noel, Mo.

He was born July 12, 1940, to Tonie and Elsie Snodgrass Hooper in Dry Fork, Ark. Raymond was a long haul truck driver. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, watching the grandchildrenís ball games, listening to KURM radio, trail riding and watching professional wrestling.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clinton Hooper; one sister, Betty Tincher; and one grandson, Bryan.

Survivors include his wife, Natalie Hooper of the home, to whom he married March 27, 1978; three sons, Mike Hooper and wife, Kathy, of Springdale, Justin Hooper and wife, Katie, and Jesse Vancleave, all of Jane, Mo.; three daughters, Edna Sturdy and husband, Tim, and Carla Smith and husband, Ira, all of Springdale, and Deanna Russell and husband, Scott, of Jane, Mo.; one brother, Junior Hooper of Witter; two sisters, Nena Monroe of Huntsville and Fritzie Ann Woods of Sante Fe Springs, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, Brandon, Robbie, Mitch, Jayden, Jaxton, James, Dillon, Sheldon, Ethan, Kelli, Felicia, Brenda and Lacey; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with the Rev. Jamie Cope and Harry Ward of ciating. Burial followed in the McBroom Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gerald Matthew Anderson March 26, 1942-Feb. 19, 2012

Mr. Gerald Matthew Anderson, 69, of Anderson, Mo., departed this life Sunday afternoon, Feb. 19, 2012, at his home after a recent battle with cancer.

Gerald entered this life March 26, 1942, in Greenbelt, Md., born to the union of the late Robert E. and Katherine L. (Lukemeyer) Anderson. He was raised in Neosho, Mo., and was a graduate of Neosho High School. He resided in Anderson, Mo., since 1983. He retired from Daisy in Neosho after several years of employment. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time on his computer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Kenneth and Robert Anderson.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Darlene Anderson of the home; a son, Gerald Robert Anderson of Neosho, Mo.; three stepchildren, Christina Smith of Wheaton, Mo., Steven Wayne Foster of Anderson, Mo., and Keith E. Foster, also of Anderson, Mo.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Katie Edsel of Neosho, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Joel L. Farmer Aug. 21, 1980-Feb. 16, 2012

Joel L. Farmer, 31, of Noel, Mo., passed away Feb. 16, 2012, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, Neosho, Mo.

He was born Aug. 21, 1980, in Gravette, Ark., to Donna R. Farmerand Bruce Anderson. He graduated from McDonald County High School in 1998. He served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne, Fort Campbell, Ky. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #621 of Anderson, Mo. He loved spending time with his son, Gage, and liked collecting guns and knives. He enjoyed oating down Elk River and snorkeling with his family and friends. Joel was a gift to many and will be loved forever.

Joel is survived by his son, Gage Farmer; mother, Donna Price of Noel, Mo.; a sister and brother-inlaw, Shayna and Bobby Gutherless of Anderson, Mo.; a nephew, Parker Gutherless; a sister Jennifer Childers of Southwest City, Mo.; his maternal grandparents, Walter and Stella Farmer of Joplin, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Don and Barbara Anderson; as well as a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sonís mother, Allison Stewart.

Memorial service was held Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at Tabernacle Church in Southwest City, Mo. Of ciating the service was Ron Mitchell. Memorials may be deposited at Hometown Bank in care of Joel L. Farmer.

Richard Wayne Haddock Sr.

Feb. 15, 1960-Feb. 13, 2012

Mr. Richard Wayne ìRickî Haddock Sr., 51, of Palmyra, Tenn., departed this life suddenly Monday Feb. 13, 2012, at the Gateway Hospital in Clarksville, Tenn.

Rick entered this life Feb. 15, 1960, in Neosho, Mo., born to the union of Ruby (Baker) Haddock and the late Robert Glenn Haddock. He was raised in Claremore, Okla., and was a graduate of Claremore High School. Throughout his life, he worked in the eld of aircraft mechanics. He was currently employed by L-3 Communications in Fort Campbell, Ky., as a Black Hawk Helicopter mechanic. He enjoyed working on cars, reading and watching movies.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Glenn ìBobî Haddock, and a brother, Ray Haddock.

Rick is survived by his wife, Reah Haddock of the home; two sons, Richard Wayne Haddock Jr., of Tulsa, Okla., and Saul McSween of Winston Salem, N.C.; two daughters, Dawn Haus of Tulsa, Okla., and Joli Helton of Mobile, Ala.; eight grandchildren; his mother, Ruby Haddock of Grove, Okla.; four brothers, Terry Haddock of Claremore, Okla., Ron Haddock of Grove, Okla., Tracy Haddock of Grove, Okla., and Troy Haddock, also of Grove; a sister, Sheryl Bunyard of Grove, Okla.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service for Mr. Haddock was 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo., with Pastor Scott Leonard of ciating. Burial was at the Tracy Cemetery. Carol Lee Haggard March 1, 1936-Feb. 21, 2012

Mrs. Carol Lee Haggard, 75, of Goodman, Mo., departed this life Tuesday morning, Feb. 21, 2012, at the Freeman Hospital in Neosho, Mo.

Carol entered this life March 1, 1936, in Ashland, Kan., born to the union of the late Clifford and Ann (Bradley) McFarland. She resided in San Francisco, Calif., before moving to McDonald County, Mo., at the age of 6. On Dec. 17, 1954, she was united in marriage to Donald Lloyd Haggard and together they have shared the last 57 years. She and Don made their home in Pomona, Calif., for10 years and in 1970, they returned home to McDonald County and settled in Anderson. They resided in Goodman since 1992. Throughout her life, she was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. She was a member of the Jefferson Street Church of Christ in Anderson, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Tonya Keener; a great-granddaughter, Miracle Lynn Jennings; and a sister, Judy Boyajian.

Carol is survived by her husband, Don Haggard of the home; three sons, Eddie Haggard and wife, Vicky, of Shawnee, Okla., Lonnie Haggard and wife, Sandra, of Checotah, Okla., and Leslie Haggard and wife, Lecia, of Newton, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lynn Pendergraft of Neosho, Mo.; two brothers, Clifford McFarland Jr. of Dallas, Texas, and Mike McFarland of Eugene, Ore.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service for Mrs. Haggard will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastors JR Burr and Tommy Burr of ciating. Burial will follow in the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.
