The Powell Historical Preservation Society will be hosting an old-fashioned ham and bean feed at 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Albert E. Brumley Park (the Hill & Hollow) in Powell.

The menu will consist of ham and beans hot out of an old iron kettle, cornbread, desserts and drinks. Cost of the meal is by donations.

If you have not heard these groups play, then this is the night to clap your hands and tap your feet. So mark your calendar and bringyour lawn chairs and blankets for an evening of good food and free music. Enjoy yourself with a wonderful evening of food, music and friends.

In addition, there will be four fall door prizes to sign up for. Also, this will be your last chance to buy a raffle ticket for the Metal Elk Welcome Sign, designed by metal artist Diana Evans of Wheaton. The winning name will be drawn during the evening of the ham and bean feed.

All proceeds will go for the rehab and maintenance of the historic Powell Bridge, soon to be a walking bridge only. Parking for the evening is free.
