Mark Alumbugh opened the morning service with prayer. Tara Stephens, with Michelle Spears on the piano, led the congregation in singing before dismissal for the Sunday school classes. The adult lesson was from Matt. 11:25-30, with the lesson focus being to “share your burdens with Jesus.” We all have responsibilities that can drain us and may seem to drag us down if we don’t have Jesus guiding us, and giving us the help that we need. Jesus is the answer, and best of all. He is available 24/7.

Mark announced that Sunday, Jan. 31, would beour quarterly birthday and anniversary dinner immediately after the morning church service. We will be recognizing the months of November, December and January. No evening service will be held. The youth are having a pancake breakfast and auction starting at 8 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 7 as a fundraising for attending the “Acquire of the Fire.” Brittany Sherman announced that items are needed for the auction. Also, Mark read a thank-youcard from Tonya Cummings and family.

Bryan Sherman and Steve Spears received the morning tithes and off ering.

Pastor Scott used Matt. 4:1-11 and 1 Cor. 10:13 for his morning scripture text on the doctrine of temptation. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and when He was physically weak the devil came to tempt Him. Also, the devil will tempt us, but it is not a sin to be tempted. The sin is giving in to the temptation and going against God’s will. Pastor Scott closed by reading Psalms 119:11. “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, thatI might not sin against thee.” We were asked to make a difference in someone from the church in the coming week. Jack Harp gave the benediction in closing.

Sunday night Pastor Scott brought the message from Matt. 7:12, on the “Golden Rule.” Tosha Sherman was the teacher for the youth class.
